A new study is emerging of the use of herbal Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction in men, according to a new report by the New England Journal of Medicine. The research, published today in the journal International Journal of Urology, is based on an analysis of two large and well-done randomized clinical trials, and two smaller ones. The first, published in theJournal of Urology(1999-2000) was a randomized controlled trial, of 100 men with moderate to severe erectile dysfunction. They were followed up over an eight-week period. At baseline, the men were treated for 6 months with 100 mg of sildenafil or 50 mg of tadalafil, and at 12 weeks, they were treated with 50 mg of sildenafil. At the end of treatment, there was a significant reduction in their ED severity, and in the mean ED duration, the effect of sildenafil was similar to that of tadalafil. The most commonly reported adverse reactions were headaches, visual disturbances (including vision loss), nausea, insomnia and constipation, among others. The most common side effects were headache (n=22), dizziness, insomnia, nausea, and constipation. The mean number of adverse events was 2.4 (range, 1-7). The most common adverse effects were headaches, vision-loss, and sexual dysfunction (n=13).
The study is the first to establish the effectiveness of sildenafil for treating erectile dysfunction in men. It was the first of its kind, and was based on the results of two large, well-done randomized controlled trials, which were conducted in men over 60 years old with erectile dysfunction. The trials involved 100 men aged 18-55 with erectile dysfunction. The trials lasted for an average of six years, and included only men with severe erectile dysfunction. The trials evaluated the safety of 100 mg of sildenafil or 50 mg of tadalafil in men with erectile dysfunction. A total of 10 men had a total of 24 months treatment with sildenafil or 50 mg of tadalafil, and all had mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. The study also included men with a history of sexual abuse and/or performance-enhancing drug use (PEDG). The men were followed up for a year for a total of 8-12 months.
In the study, the researchers examined the effects of sildenafil and tadalafil in patients with erectile dysfunction. They found that sildenafil was more effective in patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction, compared with tadalafil in patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction. The researchers also found that patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction were more likely to report their erectile function, and reported less sexual desire, which was also more common than the other trials. The researchers noted that the study was designed to measure sexual function in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction.
Sildenafil (Viagra®) and tadalafil (Cialis®) have been the only approved drugs for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Although the studies show promise, the drugs are expensive and generally not clinically proven to treat erectile dysfunction in men. The researchers, however, are concerned that these drugs may have side effects that may be associated with their use. Because the side effects are relatively small, the researchers believe that sildenafil is only effective in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction and that tadalafil may have a more serious side effect.
The new study shows that patients using sildenafil and tadalafil for the first time may still be able to get an erection with their own penile erection. The researchers believe that this may be because the drugs work in the brain and may be used in men with erectile dysfunction. They believe that the most likely side effects of sildenafil and tadalafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction were headache, visual disturbances (including vision loss), nausea, insomnia and constipation, among others. They also found that sildenafil was effective in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction.
